Bold and Beautiful | A Retro Reno
Dara embarked on her renovation with a clear vision and a beautifully contagious passion for stone. No surprise really, given that she’s the Founder of Byzantine Design, Melbourne’s purpose-led tiling company that honours the mystery of archaeology and the natural energy of stone. So, choosing the right tiles was of course a priority and together with the Wizards, Dara’s vision was brought to life.
The kitchen design was considered and deliberate, inviting the stonework to take centre stage. Starting at the bottom (literally), a French pattern of Byzantine Biscotti tumbled travertine tiles pave the floor, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. For the statement piece, Dara wasn’t afraid to go bold, selecting the Byzantine Verde Marinace complete with a leather finish to make the benchtops truly stand out. This contrasting combination added a wonderful contemporary twist to the retro vibe. So much yes!
Polytec Topiary Green Venette laminate cabinetry bridges the kitchen tones effortlessly, while the rangehood and pantry (the first thing you see upon entering) add texture with the Polytec Calcutta profile. This groove feels like custom furniture, just as the unique tiles feel like one of a kind, made just for Dara.
Beneath the surface lies a plethora of innovative solutions and smart storage, from tucked-away drawers to the game-changing pull-out Hafele One2Five bin. It’s integrated accessories like these that make a space so much more than a beautiful kitchen. It becomes liveable. Home.
